Deposits, Fees, and Billing Explained
How Payments Work on Serpverse
Serpverse deposits payments use a prepaid balance model. You add funds to your account first, then spend from that balance when placing orders. This keeps the ordering process instant — no payment processing delays between you and a publisher.
All deposits are handled through Stripe(opens in new tab), the same payment infrastructure used by platforms like Shopify and Amazon. Your payment details are never stored on Serpverse's servers.
Adding Funds to Your Account
To deposit funds, navigate to Balance in your buyer dashboard and click Add Funds.
The Deposit Flow
- Enter the amount you want to deposit
- Click Continue to Checkout — this opens a Stripe-hosted checkout page
- Enter your payment details on the Stripe page
- Complete the payment — funds appear in your available balance immediately after processing
Understanding the 15% Service Fee
Serpverse charges a 15% service fee on every order, calculated on the publisher's listing price. This fee covers platform operations, payment processing, buyer protection, and dispute resolution.
The fee is always displayed before you confirm an order — no hidden charges.
How the Fee Is Calculated
The 15% fee is capped at $200 per listing, so on a large placement it stops climbing once it reaches the cap. Here is a quick reference for common price points:
| Listing Price | Service Fee | Total Charged |
|---|---|---|
| $50.00 | $7.50 | $57.50 |
| $100.00 | $15.00 | $115.00 |
| $200.00 | $30.00 | $230.00 |
| $500.00 | $75.00 | $575.00 |
| $5,000.00 | $200.00 (capped) | $5,200.00 |
See platform fees explained for how the $200 cap works. The service fee is deducted from your available balance at the same time as the listing price when you place an order.
Your Available Balance
Your available balance represents funds ready to spend on orders. The balance updates in real time as you make deposits and place orders.
You can view your current balance at the top of your dashboard and on the Balance page. The balance reflects:
- Deposits added via Stripe checkout
- Order costs deducted when you place orders (listing price + service fee)
- Refunds returned from cancelled or declined orders
Refund Eligibility
Order-related refunds are returned to your Serpverse balance in these scenarios. For full details on timelines and edge cases, see the complete refund policy.
- Publisher rejects your order — full amount (listing price + service fee) is refunded instantly
- Order cancelled before acceptance — full refund to your balance
- Dispute resolved in your favor — refund amount depends on the resolution outcome
Balance refunds are immediate and ready to spend on another order. If you'd rather take unspent funds off the platform, you can refund them to your original card yourself from the Balance page — a small handling fee applies, and the money lands in 5-10 business days.
Viewing Your Transaction History
The Transactions section of your Balance page displays a complete record of every financial activity on your account. Each entry includes:
- Date and time of the transaction
- Type — deposit, order payment, refund, or adjustment
- Amount — positive for deposits and refunds, negative for order payments
- Status — completed, pending, or failed
- Reference — links to the related order or deposit for context
Use the date range filter and transaction type filter to find specific entries. Transaction history is exportable for your records.
Billing Tips for Buyers
Deposit in larger amounts. Fewer, larger deposits mean fewer Stripe checkout sessions and a cleaner transaction history. If you plan to place multiple orders per month, depositing your estimated monthly spend in one go is more efficient.
Monitor your balance before browsing. Knowing your available funds before exploring the marketplace prevents the frustration of finding a perfect publisher match only to realize you need to deposit first.
Track your spending against ROI. Use transaction history alongside your SEO analytics to understand which link building investments are delivering results. This helps you allocate future budgets more effectively.
